Women’s Swimming And Diving Sweeps First Day At WAC Shootout

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's swimming and diving team opened the first day of the WAC Shootout with dual meet wins over New Mexico State and Boise State to start the season in San Jose, Calif.
 
The Rainbow Wahine beat New Mexico State by a score of 149-93, and beat Boise State 123-119. San Jose State is hosting the WAC Shootout.
 
In the 1000-yard freestyle, Amanda McTeague won the event in a time of 10:20.12, while Melissa Myers finished third in 10:23.16.
 
Emma Berry and Maura Barrett finished first and second, respectively, in the 200-yard freestyle. Berry finished in 1:52.01, while Barrett finished in 1:52.45.
 
In the 1-meter, UH swept all three spots, with Hanna Bocksnick finishing first with a score of 280.35. Daniella Nero finished second with 268.95 and Stephanie De Lima was third with a score of 255.20.
 
UH had the top two times in the 500-yard freestyle, as Berry finished first with a time of 5:04.38. McTeague placed second in 5:05.34.
 
In the 3-meter diving final, Nero won the event with a score of 265.35, while Bocksnick finished third with a score of 256.15.
 
To end the day, UH won the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:36.45. The team was represented by Karli Rice, Berry, Alyssa Manlow and Barrett.
 
The Rainbow Wahine wrap up the WAC Shootout on Saturday at 10 a.m. in San Jose, Calif.
