AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Hawai'i men's and women's diving teams will compete in the annual Texas Swimming and Diving Hall of Fame Invitational, hosted by the University of Texas on Thursday, Dec. 3 through Saturday, Dec. 5 at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in Austin, Texas.
UH will compete against top teams such as UCLA, California, SMU and New Mexico, its third tough diving competition of the fall season.
Last year UH had a strong showing at the invitational with senior Emma Freisen placing second in the 1-meter final with a score of 309.05 and fifth in the 3-meter final with a score of 296.40. Sophomore
Douglas Cohen took two fourth place finishes on the men's side with a score of 279.75 in the platform final and a score of 340.50 in the 3-meter final.
Earlier this season, freshman
Hannah Bocksnick was named WAC diver of the week after debuting with three victories, two on the 1-meter and one on the 3-meter.
At the previous diving event for UH, junior
Stephanie De Lima placed second with a score of 259.75 in the 1-meter dive and Bocksnick followed with a third-place finish with a score of 256.60 at the USC Diving Invitational.
UH will kick off the invitational on Thursday with the men's 1-meter and women's 3-meter preliminaries and finals beginning at 12:30 p.m. and ending at 6:45 p.m. Friday will continue with the women's 1-meter and men's 3-meter preliminaries and finals. The invitational will conclude Saturday, with the women's and men's platform dives from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
