Men's Tennis Set to Host BYU

HONOLULU - The University of Hawai`i men's tennis team will host Brigham Young in a three-day round-robin tournament at the UH Tennis Complex. First serve is set for Tuesday, Nov. 10th at 3:00 p.m., with two more days of action to follow on Nov. 11-12.
 
The tournament will include individual matches only with no team results. Singles competition will take place on the first two days, while doubles matches will be played on the final day.
 
The Rainbow Warriors have two players ranked by the ITA preseason singles rankings, UH senior Andreas Weber is ranked No.119 and junior Dennis Lajola is ranked No.43. The Warriors also have a ranked doubles team of Lajola and UH junior transfer Jeremy Tweedt. The duo is ranked No. 49 in the ITA preseason doubles rankings.
 
Hawai'i will make its home debut after playing in two tournament on the road last month. UH participated in both the D'Novo/ITA All-American Tennis Championships in Tulsa, Okla., and the ITA Southwest Regionals in Malibu, Calif. Meanwhile, The Cougars have all six members of the starting lineup returning from last season. They are led by captain Cassidy Mears who ended the year with a 26-8 overall singles record. The Cougars finished the 2008-09 season ranked No. 64 in the ITA rankings.
