UH's Facebook and Twitter accounts will feature up-to-the-minute posts about its 19 intercollegiate sports programs. All of the department's video content featured on its website HawaiiAthletics.com, including the popular "H-Files" and "Coaches Corner" segments, will be posted on its YouTube channel and on Facebook. UH's Facebook page will also feature photo galleries. Twitter users will receive score updates, promotional activities, press releases and recaps.
UH's media relations, marketing, and ticket offices will coordinate all department postings on these social networks. However, due to NCAA regulations, representatives from UH's athletics department can't engage in communication on these forums. UH employees can't respond on the "Wall" on our Facebook page or "Text Comments" on YouTube. In addition, UH has deactivated the feature on Twitter allowing users to post comments on our site.
Facebook is the largest social network and ranks as the fifth most popular website in the world. It allows its users to join networks organized by city, workplace, school, and region to connect and interact with other people. People can also add friends and send them messages, and update their personal profiles to notify friends about themselves.
Twitter, the third-largest social network with six million users, is a micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read other users' updates (known as tweets), which are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length. Updates are displayed on the user's profile page and delivered to other users who have signed up to receive them.
YouTube is a video sharing website where users can upload, view, and share video clips.
