SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine sailing team finished in second place at the Pacific Coast Sailing Conference Women's Championship, held April 25-26. Stanford captured the regatta and joined UH and third-place UC Irvine as automatic qualifiers for next month's Intercollegiate Sailing Association Women's National Championship.
The Rainbow Wahine clinched its 10th nationals berth in the last 12 years. A total of 16 races were completed during the two-day reggatta with Stanford totaling 29 points, UH 45 and UC Irvine 73. A total of nine teams competed over the weekend.
The UH women will now travel to San Francisco for this year's nationals, held May 26-28. The coed sailing team already sewed up a bid to ICSA dinghy national semifinals earlier this month and will travel to Boston, May 2-3.
