Since 1909, there have been 21 different head coaches, more than 1,000 letter winners, dozens of All-Americans, several record-setting performances, numerous bowl appearances, and an undefeated season that led to a berth in the 2008 Allstate Sugar Bowl.
Dick Vermeil, who coached two Super Bowl teams and serves as a football analyst for NFL and college telecasts, will be the keynote speaker at the gala dinner.
Dr. Edison Miyawaki, owner of the NFL’s Cincinnati Bengals, is serving as the chairman of the Centennial Celebration Gala.
In addition to a lavish reception and dinner, the gala will include a silent auction featuring several valuable items, including a Super Bowl package, a World Series package, NFL game tickets, and other UH and professional sports memorabilia.
There are three sponsor levels available for the Gala:
- National-Champion Table - $10,000: includes , Preferred Seating , Chairman’s Reception for Sponsor Host, Complimentary Deluxe Wines, Valet Parking, Special Souvenir Gifts, and Program Acknowledgement.
- Conference-Champion Table - $5,000: includes Preferred Seating, Complimentary Deluxe Wine, Hosted Parking, Special Souvenir Gifts, and Program Acknowledgement
- Regular-Season Table - $2,500: includes Souvenir Gifts, and Program Acknowledgement
Individual Tickets are available for $300 each.
The Sheraton Waikiki Hotel, a major sponsor of the Hawaii Football Centennial Celebration gala, has agreed to provide a one-time special rate only for those attending the gala. Centennial Celebration Gala attendees will be able to stay at the Sheraton Waikiki for only $100 per night plus tax. The rate for the December 2, 2009 event will apply only between between November 30, 2009 through December 6, 2009.
