Three Warriors Selected MPSF Men’s Volleyball All-Academic

WOODLAND, Calif. – University of Hawai'i men's volleyball student-athletes Jonas Umlauft, Nejc Zemljak, and Sam Biscaro were selected to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation all-academic team, announced by the league office on Wednesday.

Zamljak, a senior from Maribor, Slovenia, is the program's first four-time all-academic selection. This past season he was named second-team all-MPSF after averaging 11.04 assists per set, seventh-best nationally, while also leading the team in digs at 1.96 per set. He guided the Warriors to .400 hitting or better in six matches, including a season-high .543 against Cal State Northridge.

Umlauft, a sophomore from Stadtbergen, Germany, led the nation in kills for the second consecutive year (5.57 per set) while being named first-team AVCA All-America and first-team all-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. He was also selected to the CoSIDA All-District VIII team, and is now eligible for Academic All-America honors.

Biscaro, a redshirt freshman from Santa Barbara, Calif., appeared in all 28 matches as a back-up setter and serving specialist.

The criteria included a 3.0 grade point average or better, at least a sophomore standing academically, have completed one full academic year and must have played in 50 percent or more of the team's matches.
