HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's volleyball will open the 2012 season ranked No. 11 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division I-II Coaches Top 15 Preseason Poll.
BYU enters the season ranked No. 1 followed by UC Irvine, UCLA, Stanford, and USC. Rounding out the Top 10 are Long Beach State, Penn State, Ohio State, Pepperdine, and Loyola-Chicago.
On Hawai'i's schedule this season are 11 of the Top 15 teams.
The Warriors (0-0) open the season against UC San Diego (0-0), which just missed out on the Top 15 poll, for a two-match MPSF series Thursday, Jan. 5 and Friday, Jan. 6 at the Stan Sheriff Center.
UH finished the 2011 season ranked No. 8 nationally, the 19
th time in school history the team finished ranked in the Top 10. Hawai'i completed the season with a 15-13 record and advanced to the MPSF postseason tournament for the second straight year under head coach
Charlie Wade.
