Temidayo “Temmy” Alamurin, a graduate student in the College of Education, is the inaugural winner of the new UH Student Rewards Program, which awards a prize to the University of Hawai`i at Manoa student who attends the most UH sporting events during a given month.
Temmy attended a student-best 15 UH sporting events in November and was awarded an iPad at the men's basketball game against Pepperdine on Saturday night. The iPad was donated by Pepsi Hawaii, a Diamond Corporate Partner of UH Athletics. Other UH Corporate Partners have also provided prizes for future student winners. Four UH students tied for second place, attending 11 UH sporting events during the month of November.
Winners will also be selected for the months of December, January, February, March, and April. Students scan their UH Manoa identification cards each time they enter a UH ticketed sporting event and the winners are determined by a check of the student database by the UH ticket office at the end of each month. Ticketed UH sports include: football, women's volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, men's volleyball, and baseball.
”I am profoundly happy and pleasantly surprised for being the winner of the Student Rewards Program for the month of November,” Temmy said. “My heartfelt appreciation to the UH Athletics Department and Pepsi for the great prize. I have wanted an iPad for a long time but have not been able to afford one.
”As a student of UH, I have observed that, attending UH games is a fulfilling experience as it contributes in no small measure to being able to 'pass through the school and letting the school pass through me.' Not only am I excited to be at the games to watch my great university play, but also to be able to cheer, encourage and inspire the UH team. To this end, I am glad because the experiences have been truly inspiring and made me a part of the 'fun.' I am definitely inspired to attend UH's subsequent games and will encourage all my colleagues to do so.”
