The University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team's players and coaches have a unique opportunity this summer to participate in international competition. In conjunction with Bring It USA Promotions and USA Volleyball, those members will participate in the 24th Annual Asian Pacific Cup in Fukuoka, Japan.
The tournament will be held June 15-17 and features the Junior National Team from China, the Senior National Team from Thailand, the University National Team from Japan and the Bring It USA/Hawai'i team.
Players from across the U.S. were invited to participate and will be included on the final roster. Eight individuals with direct ties to Hawai'i will be part of the squad – coaches
Charlie Wade and Vernon Podlewski, current players
Scott Hartley and
Nick West, and former UH standouts
Joshua Walker, Tony Ching, Brian Beckwith and Mauli'a LaBarre.
The invitation was made possible by local and long time Japan liaison Don Takaki with assistance from Al Chee.
