Zarkovic Named MPSF Player Of The Week

University of Hawai'i freshman outside hitter Sinisa “Siki” Zarkovic was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Molten Player of the Week following his performance in the Warriors' two-match sweep of then-No. 2 Pepperdine.

Zarkovic (Belgrade, Serbia/Sports Grammar School) averaged 4.25 kills per set while hitting .393 during the series. He had a career-high 19 kills on .441 hitting in the five-set win, along with two aces. The freshman served the final four points of set five, including an ace at 13-11 which gave UH match point. He also had 15 kills in the straight set victory and totaled six blocks and averaged five points per set through the series.

Zarkovic is the first UH player to receive player of the week honors since Jonas Umlauft in 2011.

The Warriors will host a two-match MPSF series against Stanford this weekend (Feb. 1-2) at the Stan Sheriff Center.
