The University of Hawai'i women's cross country team will compete in the Big West Championship, Saturday, Nov. 2 in San Luis Obispo, Calif. The Rainbow Wahine will be running the 6K for the third time this season, which will be held at Fairbanks Memorial Cross Country Course.
The Rainbow Wahine have ran two other 6K races this season. UH competed at the Stanford Invitational where senior
Kevyn Murphy led the Rainbow Wahine with a time of 22:45. Two weeks ago at the Bronco Invitational, freshman
Caitlyn Foss was the top finisher with a time of 22:52.4.
Last season Hawai'i placed eighth in its first Big West Championship in 17 years. UH returns three of its top five finishers from last year's championship. Murphy was the team's top finisher at 21:48.9 for 35th place followed by junior
Louise Mulvey (24:01.7, 74th), and sophomore
Kelsie Kobayashi (24:20.5, 79th).

Big West Championship History: The Rainbow Wahine have competed in 14 previous Big West Championships (1984-95, '12). UH's highest finish was a tie for second in 1993. Hawai'i also placed third in 1984 and '95. Individually, the highest finish by a Rainbow Wahine was third by Dianna Cervantes in 1995.
