Men's Basketball Concludes Road Swing At Cal State Fullerton

Game Notes

FULLERTON, Calif. – The University of Hawai`i men's basketball team (12-9, 6-4 BWC) plays the last of four straight road games when it takes on Cal State Fullerton (11-10, 4-5 BWC) in a  Big West matchup on Saturday, Feb. 2. Tipoff is set for 8:00 p.m. PT (6:00 p.m. HT) at Titan Gym.

The Rainbow Warriors moved into sole possession of third in the league standings after rallying for a 72-68 win at UC Riverside on Thursday. UH trailed by as many as 14 points in the first half and were down by 11 points with less than 10 minutes left before ending the game on a 21-6 run. After dropping its first four road games of the year, UH has now won back-to-back games on the road, thanks in large part to a pair of double-double performances by junior Christian Standhardinger who finished with a game-high 23 points and 10 rebounds versus the Highlanders.

Cal State Fullerton, meanwhile, is on a slide dropping four of its last five games, including a 92-86 setback to Cal State Northridge on Thursday. Still, the Titans are one of the most explosive teams in the country, ranking third in the NCAA in scoring offense (82.2 ppg).

This will be the second meeting between the teams this season. The 'Bows won the first meeting in Honolulu on Jan. 3 in thrilling fashion when Garrett Jefferson went the length of the court and nailed a buzzer-beater to give UH a 90-88 come-from-behind win. Hawai`i erased an 11-point deficit in the final five minutes to claim the victory.
