ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine sailing team is in 12th place following the first day of the Sperry Top-Sider/ICSA Women's National Championship Semifinals held at the Magnuson Hotel Marina Cove on Tampa Bay.
A total of 16 races were completed on the day with UH totaling 160 points. Cornell is setting the pace among the 18 competing schools with a semifinal low of 73 points. The semifinals will wrap up on Wednesday with the top nine teams advancing to the finals where they will join the nine other schools that have already automatically qualified for the final round.
Sailing for the Rainbow Wahine are
Madeline Kennedy and
Katrina Berry who currently sitting in 10th in the A division with 77 points, while
Lindsay Stewart and
Hanne Nagatani have totaled 83 points and are in 12th in the B division.
This is the 14th time in the last 16 years that the Rainbow Wahine are competing in the nationals. UH looks to advance to the finals for the second straight year.
