WAIPAHU, O'ahu – The University of Hawai'i women's soccer team went on an offensive explosion to notch a 4-1 win over Idaho State on the opening night of the Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Soccer Classic. Tiana Fujimoto led the way with a hat trick as UH (3-2) won its third straight match and first of the season at the Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium.

Fujimoto became the sixth player in program history to record a hat trick and first since Britta Bourne tallied three goals at Idaho in 2009. The junior from Honolulu scored a goal in the first half to give UH a 1-0 lead at the half, then scored two more after the break.

Freshman Ryan Daniel also scored for UH, coming off the bench to notch her first career score. Junior midfielder Krystal Pascua assisted two of the four goals. After being shutout in each of their first two home matches—despite numerous opportunities—UH finally capitalized against the Bengals, unleashing a total of 23 shots, including 11 on goal.

UH put tremendous pressure on the Bengals, the defending Big Sky co-champions, right from the get-go. The 'Bows finally broke through in the 28th minute when Fujimoto scored her second goal of the season. Idaho State failed to clear the ball out of the box and an opportunistic Fujimoto had a clear look at the goal from 10 yards out, hammering home a left-footer.

Fujimoto made it 2-0 in the 69th minute when she received a through ball from Krystal Pascua and maneuvered her way for an easy open-net goal. Ten minutes later Pasuca set up another UH goal, this time for Daniel who hammered home a near-post shot into the upper corner.

The Bengals (2-4) ruined a potential UH shutout when Amanda Ellsworth answered Daniel's goal just 44 seconds later.  Fujimoto closed out the scoring in the 86th minute when she sped past the ISU defense for a breakaway score.

In the tournament's first match, Florida Gulf Coast defeated Portland State, 1-0.

UH will return to the field on Sunday for the final day of Outrigger Hotel and Resorts Soccer Classic when they face Portland State at 5:00 p.m. Idaho State and Florida Gulf Coast will precede the match at 2:30 p.m.
