The University of Hawai'i women's cross country team returns to the Bay Area for its annual trip to the Bronco Invitational, Saturday, Ot. 18 at Baylands Regional Park in Sunnyvale, Calif. The Rainbow Wahine have competed in the Bronco Invite every year since 2005.
Representing UH at this year's meet are
Caitlyn Foss,
Alexa Foster,
Montana Martinez,
Louise Mulvey,
Hayley Musashi, and Tiare Nakashima, who will compete in the women's 6K open division race beginning at 11:15 a.m. PT. The race will be held at Baylands Regional Park, which is located approximately 10 miles north of Santa Clara University.
Among this year's participants for the Rainbow Wahine, Mulvey competed in three previous Bronco Invitationals with her best finish of 57
th in 2012. Nakashima also competed in the 2012 race, placing 101
st while Foss was UH's top finisher last season, crossing the finish line in 22:52.4 for 159
th place.
Martinez, a freshman from Harbor City, Calif., was UH's top finisher in all four meets this season, including a seventh place finish at last week's Chaminade Invitational. In fact, the Rainbow Wahine posted its best showing of the season at the Chaminade Invite with all five finishers placing in the Top 20 individually.
