The University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team will open the 2015 season at No. 10 in the AVCA Division I-II Preseason Poll, tied 2014 national runner-up Stanford. In the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Coaches' Poll, UH is picked to finish at No. 7 in the conference. UH also had two athletes selected to the annual Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. Preseason All-American Teams.
The Rainbow Warriors finished last season at No. 12 and in the country and No. 9 in the MPSF, just missing conference playoffs despite a winning 15-12, 13-11 MPSF record.
Hawai'i returns four starters and nine other lettermen to the squad, including AVCA All-America first team middle blocker
Taylor Averill and honorable mention All-American
Brook Sedore. Both were named to the Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. Preseason All-American Teams for 2015, Averill to the first-team, and Sedore to the second-team.

Kolby Kanetake, and US Junior National Team member
Kupono Fey.
Pepperdine grabbed the top spot in the AVCA poll with 10 first place votes followed by defending NCAA Champion Loyola-Chicago (8), Penn State, UC Santa Barbara, and UCLA. Rounding out the top 10 along with Hawai'i and Stanford were BYU, USC, UC Irvine and Lewis.
The Waves, who tied with BYU last season at No. 1, were also picked to finish first in the MPSF with 121 points. UC Santa Barbara followed at No. 2, with USC at No. 3.
UH hosts Stevens Institute of Technology for its season-opener on Jan. 3 at the Stan Sheriff Center.
