HONOLULU – Kelly McGill, an offensive lineman for the University of Hawai'i's 1992 Holiday Bowl team, will serve as the Rainbow Warriors' honorary captain for Saturday's game against Air Force.
Kick-off is 4:34 p.m., at Hawaiian Airlines Field at Aloha Stadium. McGill will accompany the UH game captains for the coin toss.
McGill is a four-year lettermen and three-year starter from 1991-94. He earned honorable mention all-Western Athletic Conference honors as a senior. Raised in San Jose, Calif., McGill was also a player and coach for the USA Tomahawks National Rugby League team.
Since graduating from UH, McGill has been a successful entrepreneur and is currently the President and CEO of Grand Pacific Resources. He is owner and part-owner of a number highly recognized Hawai'i businesses including Tiki's Grill & Bar, Nicky Shoe Company, and Holokai Grill.
Previous honorary captains this season include UFC fighter Max Holloway (Colorado), co-captain of the 1955 Rainbow football team Richard "Dick" Ueoka (UC Davis), and Kaua'i Mayor Bernard Carvalho and Senate President Ron Kouchi (San Diego State).
