HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i football team took the field for a morning practice for the final time in the 2016 season on Thursday, completing bowl week workouts at Cooke Practice Field.

Following the two-hour session, the coaching staff reminded the squad of the importance of this time and that for many this was the last time they would take the practice field with their teammates, the last time they would don their UH practice gear and that these are times to be cherished.

The workout continued for the Rainbow Warriors in the form of afternoon bowl events. The next stop for UH after a long ride, by central Honolulu standards, was all the way out to O'ahu's westside to Wet'n'Wild Hawaii water park in Kapolei. With every variety of slide imaginable, the team hit the park hard, tackling every attraction, challenging each other to tube races and for some, putting their athleticism to use on thrill rides such as the Tornado and the Shaka.

The most popular stop was the first for most, and the entire time for some, including receiver Keelan Ewaliko. Da' Flowrider is a continuous wave generator and drew the attention of the players, locals and transplants alike – even passing game coordinator Craig Stutzmann.

32391After a nearly three-hour run at the park, the Rainbow Warriors returned to the hotel briefly before heading out to the Royal Hawaiian terrace for the official team photo and the official Hawai'i Bowl Banquet at the Sheraton.

During the 90-minute banquet program, both teams were treated to a gourmet meal including prime rib, while the hosts celebrated the teams' accomplishments to reach the Hawai'i Bowl. The Hawai'i marching band treated the crowd to a playing of both squads' fight songs, and the program closed on a brief coach Q&A session with both Middle Tennessee's Rick Stockstill and UH's Nick Rolovich, led by ESPN game broadcasters Mark May and Chris Cotter.

On Friday, the team will hold its final walk-through in advance of Saturday's Hawai'i Bowl, while select players will visit hospitalized children at Kapiolani Medical Center and the entire squad will take in a final lunch event at Dave & Buster's.

The Rainbow Warriors will meet the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, at 3:00 p.m. HT. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN and will be available on the WatchESPN app on mobile devices and gaming consoles. For tickets, visit the Hawai'i Ticket Office online, in person at the Stan Sheriff Center box office, or by phone at (808) 944-2697.
