SERIES INFORMATION: Hawai‘i and Ohio State met for the first time with OSU moving to a 1-0 record after the 38-0 win.
Attendance: 107,145, which is the largest crowd UH has ever played before, surpassing the previous high of 92,138 at Alabama in 2006.

Team Notes:- The Hawai‘i program record moves to 535-427-25 (.555), and 89-154-3 (.368) on the road.
- After snapping a 19-game losing streak in nationally-televised contests in the opener, UH is now 19-60-2 (.246) in 81 opportunities.
- Since 2003, UH has 10 wins since teams from the Power 5 conferences, and are now 6-13 against teams from the Big Ten (1-3 away).
- With the loss, UH now holds a record of 10-39 (.204) all-time against nationally ranked teams, and is 0-4 in four meetings against a team ranked No. 1 overall.
- The loss moves UH’s record against Ohio-based teams to 4-5 and the Rainbow Warriors are now 0-2 when playing in Ohio.
- UH is 1-7 all-time when playing in the Eastern Time Zone, with the lone win in 2010 with a 31-28 victory at Army West Point.
- This is the second time in the Norm Chow era that Hawai‘i opens with a 1-1 start, the last in 2012.

- First play from scrimmage was a pass to Dylan Collie down the right hash, which accounted for 29 of UH’s 35 yards in the opening half.
- In the first half, UH produced only 89 yards of total offense but had no negative plays in the half.
- In the first half, OSU held the time of possession at a rate of 19:33 versus UH’s 10:27, including holding a 12:47 to 2:13 advantage in the first quarter
- Columbus native and Marion-Francis High School graduate Paul Harris led the UH rushing effort, with 46 yards on 14 carries for a 3.3 YPC average.
- Despite allowing 232 yards of offense from Ohio State, UH held the Buckeyes to only two scores in the first half, one of which was provided by a short field opportunity.
- At the half, linebacker Benetton Fonua had accumulated 10 tackles, making it two consecutive games of a double-digit first half tackler. Fonua finished with 12 tackles.
